A Reflective Moment
Submitted by Debbie Hazelton on Wed, 08/29/2018 – 19:21
I just posted this on Facebook and so want to put it here as well.
I’m in such a reflective moment. Today, cleaning out and reorganizing drawers, I had a pile of pictures and things and thought Des might want to see them and, could help me know what to keep and what to discard. I didn’t realize I’d be going back to the past to such a degree.
There were old report cards, back to kindergarten and first grade. There were painstaking progress reports written by a few of my teachers. I could so appreciate the time and energy they took to write them. It was heart-warming to know they enjoyed me. I could hear their concerns, suggestions, the things they were proud of… It was interesting to hear more of how they saw me. As I heard their statements, I went between what they were observing and saying, and to world in which I was living back then
I remember so many things about each and every one of those teachers. How I wish I could spend time with them now, expressing my appreciation of them. .
It reminds me of when caring for Tommy, Des and Tony’s father, I began to see every other person who ever was a caregiving, teacher, parent, kind person in my life. I could appreciate their ordinariness and their extraordinariness as I grappled with my own strengths and stumblings in my role with Tommy. Suddenly all of those adults in their various roles became awesome, very real people as they, and later, I, as we were and are not always equipped with the right words. As we guess and fumble at the best way to say or do things. I don’t think it is ever really about saying and doing life perfectly. It’s about our intent to do good, mean well.
Lately I’ve been thinking about the various conversations around politically correct language. Perhaps a more appropriate way to approach this is to strive increasingly for language that is inclusive. Maybe that’s a sidebar, and maybe not. š
In any case, wow, how very moving to read, and hear described those pictures and messages of so long ago. While I can’t go back and contact those teachers. I know my ongoing task is to continue to show up for people and in conversations today, appreciating so much of who and what we all bring to life in each and every moment, now!

Update! And, Returning To ACB Radio
Submitted by Debbie Hazelton on Sat, 07/14/2018 – 15:26
Hi Everyone,
I never expected being gone so long, and I know some of you thought I’d never return.
After approximately eight months, I’m returning to ACB Radio Interactive with both “The Good Energy Mix” and “In The Quiet” beginning this week, July6 16 2018. “On The Inside Track” will return to ACB Radio Mainstream beginning in August.
My other project I spoke about when I left will come into play in a parallel way which will not interfere with my participation with ACB Radio.
It’s been a highly charged time since I left. The break was much needed. Our caregiving demanded constant attention from all of us here. It was intense, a 24-7 vigel that demanded flexibility, patience and focus constantly. If you’ve ever dealt with Alzheimer’s, it’s a terrible disease. Under statement. When I was first here four years ago, we often had to repeat things every 30 seconds which, as it was, was frustrating and sad for all of us. In the last couple of months however, 30 seconds would have been a long time. It became necessary to repeat, reassure etc., every ten seconds! In February, Tommy died. We had actually gotten Hospice in a few days before, not anticipating he was ready to leave, but knowing we could get far more support in the way of services. It was ac tually a quick decline from there. Given a series of things that happened within his last few days, we’re glad his suffering was alleviated. But oh, we sure do miss him! Periodically, we get signs that he’s saying hello.
I can’t begin to say how much learned in the privilege of taking care of him. H got to see, and be, every caregiver, teacher, helper, parent, who ever had to deal with me! Imagine that! I felt his frustration, his powerlessness. He was much kinder in his darkest hours than I ever was in mine. All the while, really since I’ve been here, I have felt myself change, becoming someone very different. My decisions, perceptions, actions and choices are far different. More of my own Swiss Cheese holes have been filled in. More brain cells have clicked into a very different way of being.
After Tommy died, we got into a huge project around here or reorganizing rooms, purging and shifting. My office is now in a new room, and it’s only been set up now for this last week. I wanted to wait for much of this to settle before returning to live broadcasting.
After about six weeks of being gone, I began to miss “The Good Energy Mix.” “In The Quiet” has remained on several stations. It took a lot of energy to make sure they had shows during this time. I intended to stop giving them shows, when I learned that this show when from being on four stations to nine, and now back on ACB Radio, it will be ten. This renewed my commitment. Though those stations have increasingly taken this show, I’ve missed bringing it live to those of you who listen on ACB Radio. It doessn’t felt fare to keep it from you any longer as I hear from some of you from time to time about how you’ve missed it.When I began “In The Quiet” I knew it cemented me more fully into my sense of mission, to carry a positive message of spirituality.
In the last couple of months, I’ve met some other friends through YouTube, been a guest on their channel, and am about ready to expand my channel as well. I’ve learned about YouTube Live. It’s a challenge to take it on but I’m going to see if I can manage it.
I’ve also been speaking more locally. I’m pleased this has yielded more invations to speak with great feedback. There are some other exciting things I’ll save for sharing on air, so I hope you’ll tune in.
“The Good Energy Mix”, Monday, 11:00 A.M. Eastern.
“In The Quiet” Tuesday, 7:00 P.M. Eastern.

Find me on Facebook and Twitter. Feel free to message me during the show, particularly Monday, as I keep “In The Quiet” just that, quiet. š
Hope you can tune in.
Meanwhile, contrary to popular belief out there, I still say it’s a very exciting time to be alive and on this planet. Stick around, and you just might find my message andenergy positively contagious. š

Hi Everyone,
For those who are new, I’ve done a show for the last six years called “In The Quiet.” It has been well liked. It’s a place to go within, hear peaceful and uplifting music, along with some inspirational thoughts and words. I’m not currently doing it live, so here is a list of stations carrying it currently as it is prerecorded.
This list has grown! I donāt know all of their schedules. Some are on Sunday morning. Hereās what I have.

FYI Stepping Away From ACB Radio Broadcasting (A friendly move)
Submitted by Debbie Hazelton on Wed, 11/15/2017 – 14:29
Hello Everyone,
Itās a friendly move. Itās a definite move.
After ten plus years of broadcasting with ACB Radio, it is time to move on. While I will still remain with the project occasionally working in the background, Iām ready to spread my wings into new territory. I promised this years ago when leaving Team-FM. Since that time, I got bogged down with one thing or another that kept me where Iāve been, pretty much tethered to shows. Iāve also been heavily involved with a team of 24-7 care-giving, and am looking forward to some unscheduled time to both rest and create more freely. Though my first radio experiences were not with ACB Radio, Iām grateful for the experiences in growing as a broadcaster, producer and all that I learned I could accomplish in my previous role as assistant managing director. Today, I remain a member of a couple of ACB affiliates. My heart is still with what ACB represents and Iām proud of many of its accomplishments.
Affective now, all of my shows are moving to a retirement status. Itās entirely possible that they will rise up elsewhere, and even be back in circulation here through another avenue. Feel free to sign up for my Announce List by sending a blank email to:

Many thanks first, to ACB for continuing to support and help grow ACB Radio. It still has tons of potential. When I hear things like state and national conventions streamed, World Blind Union I am repeatedly moved just to consider how even one person who is blind/visually impaired can in any given moment feel less isolated, greater self-esteem while finding practical resources by which to move ahead and gain greater freedom. The Interactive stream remains important to bring community and social interaction. ACB Radio is huge! May it continue to grow in wonderful ways. I am always willing to help brainstorm more that it can become and especially appreciate Jeff Bishop as a friend and colleague as we have, and will continue to share many brainstorming ideas together. Jeff is doing what Iām now doing, spreading his wings to do more, bring more, all that go a long way to enhance ACB and our lives as people who are blind/visually impaired.
I also want to publicly thank Larry Turnbull. This guy starts working every day at 5:00 A.M. and rarely quits his attentiveness to so much detail, to run ACB Radio with its seven streams and simultaneously executing his role as ACB server administrator, overseeing all of ACB lists as well as providing ongoing and on-call support to ACB office staff in both national offices. Larry has trained, hand-held many new broadcasters, spending hours of time to tutor and guide. It would probably take six people to replace him in all that he currently does today, much of which remains in the background behind the scenes.
Thank you, listeners, who have tuned in, enjoyed any of my shows, who have been guests and dared to openly share so much of your lives. Without you, who listen and participate whether on-air or through interactive discussions, there would be no place, no avenue for radio. And thank you Randy Rusnak, for being The Big R. We had fun cooking up lots of food and craziness, passing along many tips and resources.
Truthfully, Iād like to see many more aspiring broadcasters spend time on ACB Radio, and take the initiative to grow on and up into new possibilities. In my opinion, this could do more to both grow ACB and ACB Radio. This was part of what I hoped would happen through the vehicle and program of Affiliates In Action. Perhaps it will still do so one day. Itās a huge endeavor.
In any event, onward we go, together and separately. I apologize for any disappointment or sadness. Sometimes we have to stretch to grow. Thank you for your support, interest and understanding.

et Yourself Off The Hook! Really! “In The Quiet”
Submitted by Debbie Hazelton on Tue, 08/01/2017 – 17:34
Hey there! And happy new month!
Is there a referee on your shoulder? Tell them no thank you, and send them on their way, and come rest In The Quiet. Without that pressure to be or do or become by anyone elseās agenda, even your own, without that old list of āshould-a could-a would-aā¦ you might just find more energy to be more and thus do more from a peaceful place within. Works for me, as long as I listen from within and allow the depth from beyond old negative tapes to repair and guide my way.
Come be inspired by the sheer beauty of music! Itās powerful stuff! And itās here for all of us!

Find Our Way, With The Good Energy Of Others
Submitted by Debbie Hazelton on Mon, 04/24/2017 – 08:55
Wow! Last week in April already!
I woke with the song:
āIām Beginning To See the Light.ā
From there, songs about what we see, (perceive) in othersā¦ How we find our wayā¦ How and what we learn from othersā¦
I tell people all the time
āVision is in the mind.ā
People say
āI see what you meanā¦ā
Where do they/we, see it?
In the mind, in our mindās eye.
And what if we see possibilities in others? How might we be more inspired by others?
I donāt know about you, but āsame oldā¦ Same oldā¦ā isnāt good enough for me.
So the āGood Energy Mixā is here for all of us!
Letās do it together!

“In The Quiet Day!”
There, is, soooo, much, huge stuff going on for many of us, major life crises, sudden surgeriesā¦ just major changes suddenly demanding attention And all of us, needing and deserving yet more kindness, more TLC! Someone actually asked me one day a few years ago what TLC was. Tender loving care! Yes indeed! And while we need it from each other, we also need and can get it, fill up with it in the quiet! Those quiet spaces between this and that, between the busyness of thoughts, words, conversations, noise, and yet more that demands our attention!
Come and let your soul, your whole self bask in luscious sounds, some quiet reflection if you wish, a safe container of just being.

None My Binnett
Submitted by Debbie Hazelton on Fri, 02/24/2017 – 15:25
Here we are in a big eclipse weekend, just before this solar eclipse on Sunday.
As I continue to keep my energy in a high place, I’m reminded of how important it is to detach from all sorts of things, such as drama, ego, petty stuff. This includes other people’s stuff. If they’re running with their egos, into drama, into the need to be right, feeling or acting entitled…, I may notice, and then, it’s really none of my business, (none my binnet!)
I’m reminded of a quote from “The Game Of Life And How To Play It” by Florence Scoven Shinn where she basically says that no matter what our relationships are with each other, “Every person is my teacher.” I can learn from their/my actions, learn from my past. I can see how far I have come, or where I need to go. I can gain empathy, send love, offer honest feedback if asked… Ultimately, it’s not for me to instruct them, change them, enlighten them, persuade or fix or enable them. The best way I can offer healing is to stay out of the way and send love, light, equal to the highest of intensions and let them be.
I like the acrromym for EGO: “Edging God out.” There’s healthy ego, and sometimes it takes larger egos to take on big jobs. There’s such a thing as healthy self-esteem, and, as I stated in my second book “Solving The Self-esteem Puzzle”, I don’t believe there’s any such thing as too much self love, that is, genuine self love. I don’t believe though, that genuine self love needs to be arrogant.
I used to believe that if I knew something, it was for me to say it. It’s amazing to watch group dynamics and notice how others in group settings end up bringing up what needs to be said. I don’t have to do it. In fact, things often go more smoothly if I don’t. I can just send love and blessings. The more I stay quiet and out of the way, the more right working takes place.
It reminds me of the magnificent ways our bodies are made, how one breath and then another continue to happen on their own. Blood continues to pump bringing vitality to my whole body, without any need for me to orchestrate or organize these functions.
And so it is…
Scattered energies…! Choosing to keep what matters rising to the top! It’s GEM Day!

Hey there!
Are you getting to have a day off? Still going into work? Wherever you areā¦, letās spend some time together this GEM day!!!
Energies are scattered! Weāre between eclipses and things may get very rocky! āWhat, GET rocky? Arenāt they rocky enough? Havenāt they already been rocky?ā¦ā
Iāll talk about this and more on GEM, along with lots of great , upbeat music.
what matters is that weāre all in this together. So letās bring our best and come to the table and enjoy our good energy mix as all of us together!
